Barbara’s grandmother was Elsie Cave (1892), born in Victoria AUS. Her
father was Henry Enderson (1862), also of Victoria, and his wife Mary
Annie Edmonds. Then to James Platford Cave (1831), of Manchester, and
Victoria Martha Ann Enderson; Henry (c 18020 and Harriet Platford;
Thomas (1774) and Jane Imms; William (1751), of York, and Elizabeth
Childerson; Thomas (1715) and his 2^nd wife Grace Burkill; Thomas
(1686), of Rothwell YKS, and Hannah Rodley; Edward (1644) and Dorothy
Swindon. Finally to Thomas (c 1600) and Elizabeth Westerman.
*Angela Dunn (636) *Cave of Devon and London
Angela is of the family of Henry George (1923), of Shoreditch, and his
wife Doreen Tozer. Then to Henry George (1898) and Catherine Beatrice
Lovatt; Edward/Edwin (1871), of Hackney LND and Sophia Ann Osman; John
James (c 1833), of Marylebone LND, and Emma Grout. Possibly to William
(c 1811).
*Stuart Charles Cave (635) *Cave of Clipston NTH
Stuart’s father was Herbert Cave (1893), of Melbourne Victoria. He was
descended from William Bruce Cave (1855) of Campbellfield Victoria, and
Isadora A Kemp/Gallie. Then to Joseph (1860), of Market Harborough and
Lydia Clark; Charles (1812), of Clipston, and Ann Burnham; Richard
(1776) and Martha Green. Finally to Thomas (c 1745) and Grace Langton.

(1881) and his first wife Eva Stokes; William Richard (1854) and Jane
Phelps; John (1812), of Claycoton, and his first wife Mary Charters;
Richard (1787) and Sarah Goadby. Finally to Richard (c 1747) and
Elizabeth York.
John (1812) had arrived in Sydney in 1839.
*Bryan Michael Cave (633) *Cave of Ohio, Iowa and Texas USA
Bryan’ grandfather was Albert Thomas Cave (1876), of Iowa, and his wife
Doris L Michel. Then to Thomas W (c 1854) and Virginia Hartman. Finally,
at this stage, Joseph (1822), of Ohio, and Elizabeth Jane Meadows.
At this stage, DNA test results indicate relationship with William
Dawson Cave, whose ancestry is traced back to the Cave’s of
Warwickshire, UK.
*Paul Andrew Cave (632) *Cave of Bulwick NTH
Pauls’ Great Grandfather was Frank Herbert (1897), born in Leicester.
And his wife Jane Hughes. Then to Horace Albert (1859), of
Wolverhampton, and his first wife Sarah Jane B Coyne; Charles Samuel

CAM, and Elizabeth Craghill; Paul (1746) and his second wife Elizabeth
Cheesman; Paul (1715), of Bulwick, and Catherine Austin; Robert (1676)
and Ursula Bruce; Robert (1640) and Agnes. Finally William (c 1631) and
Elizabeth.
*Gareth Oubridge (631) *Caves of Birmingham and London
Gareth’s sister is married to Laurence Caves of Birmingham. His
grandfather is Arthur Charles (1902) and Lilian Mary Jones. Then to
Arthur William (1873), of Islington LND, and Florence Gillam;
Joseph(1852), of St Pancras LND, and his 1^st wife Harriett Beetlestone;
Joseph and Eliza Shaw (or Eliza Newman). Subject to further research to
Thomas (c 1788), of Drayton BKM.
*Robyn Cave (630) *Cave of Chatteris CAM
Robyn is descended from Ronald Lesley Cave (1921), of Taranaki NZ, and
Wyonne Mae Thompson. Then to Everitt Andrew Joseph (1886) and Alice
Murray Anderson; Everitt (1858) and Kate Josephine Meldon; Matthew
(1818), of Chatteris, and Mary Ann Peters.
Matthew had taken the family to New Zealand where Everitt (1858) was
born. He was the eldest son of John (1794) and Elizabeth Bearcock. Then
to Charlotte Beck (c 1775) also known as Cave. It is thought that
Matthew eventually married her in 1797 after his first wife died in 1793.
Matthews’s parents were Matthew (1709) and Margaret Everitt who he
married in Haddenham CAM in 1742. His parents were William (1669) of
Witchford CAM, and Isabella Merry. Then to Thomas (c 1647) and his
second wife Martha. It is possible that Thomas’s father was William but
there is a problem with records of this area. This part of Cambridge
strongly supported Oliver Cromwell during the Civil War and Parish
Records do not exist for this time.
*Tony Mairs (629)* Cave of Thorney CAM
Tony is descended from Mary (Ann) Cave born 1827 in Sydney, who married
William Boyce on the 20th of May 1842 in Port Underwood NZ. Her father
was Charles Samuel Cave who was born in 1793 in Eye, north
Cambridgeshire. Her mother was Susannah Dockerell who CSC married in
Sydney NSW on the 15th October 1825. She was his 5th wife! We then go
back to Samuel (1757), of Thorney CAM, and Anne Cobb. Samuel was the
youngest son of Thomas Cave (1727), of Leicester St Marys, and Elizabeth
Wagstaff (Table BB); William (1698) and Jane Spencer; Thomas (c 1657),
of Leicester All Saints, and his 2nd wife Martha Loe; Thomas (c1635).
There is a great possibility this Thomas was born in Walcot LEI in
1635/6. he would then be the eldest son of Thomas (1612) and Abigail
Lord. Then to Thomas (c 1590) and Joan Parberry; Thomas (c 1550) and
Elizabeth Mawbee; Christopher (c1520) and Agnes Catesby; Thomas (d
1547/8); John of Sinecross (?) and Catherine Saunders. This
“possibility” is totally dependent on a will dated 1684 of Thomas of
Walcot who mentions his “eldest son” Thomas. This Thomas was baptised
24th Jan 1635/6 in Walcot LEI. The family group up to Thomas (c 1657)
have five positive DNA results that do not match the only ones available
linked to the John Cave of Sinecross family group. We are now waiting
for one result that could sort out this anomaly.
*Lalah Simpson (628)* Cave of Yaxley HUN and London
Lalah is descended from Maria Cave (1806), of London, who married
Richard Hall in 1824. Then to Holsea Cave (1776), of St Martins in the

Susannah Smith; John (1718), of Peterborough NTH, and Jane Bishop.
Finally John (d 1718) of Peterborough and his wife Jane.
*Simon Scott (627)* Cave of London
Simon is descended from his great grandfather Alfred Leslie Cave (1897),
of Wandsworth LND, and his wife Hilda Drury. (Data Protection prevents
me from naming his Cave mother and grandfather). Then to Edwin John
(1863), of Southwark LND, and his wife Blanche Slatter; William Henry
(1840) of Mile End LND, and Hannah Whiffen; John Wright Cave (1809) and
Ann Law; William (c 1780) and Elizabeth Hazzard; Edward (1756) and Jane
Clarke. Finally (or is it?) William Cave a Coppersmith of West
Smithfield LND and his wife Mary. This could be Mary Brocks who married
a William Cave in Cassington OXF 30th March 1746. If this is the case
then Williams parents are Zechariah (1696) and Ann Cook. Then to John
Cave (c 1662), of Artingworth NTH and his wife Ann.
*Veronica Williams (626) *Cave of Claycoton NTH
Veronica is descended from Sarah Cave (1776), of Claycoton, who married
John lee in 1804 her parents were Richard (c 1747) and Elizabeth York.
We can find no trace, at this stage, of the parents of Richard (c 1747).
Veronica’s husband is linked to the Cave family through his Great Grand
Aunt, Mary Ann Rogers, who married Thomas Cave (1840) of Kingswinford.
*Judy Cave Hohendal (625)*
Judy’s mother Frances was one of the early members of the society (35).
She was married to George Valentine Cave (1916) of New York. His parents
were James Adams Cave (1886) and Theresa Gregerson. Then to John (c
1856), of Penninghame SCT) and Robina Willoughby They married in 1873 in
Newton Stewart SCT. John was an illegitimate son of a John Cave (c1830)
and Barbara Neil. Barbara married James Adams in 1865. The story does
not end here! A descendant of Charles Willoughby Cave, the eldest son of
John and Robina, has taken part in the society DNA project. The results
indicate that he is part of the “core group” of families based about
Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Leicestershire. How did John end up
in Scotland?
*Glennis Ferris (624)* Cave of March CAM
Glennis is descended from Arthur Cecil W Cave (1891), born in Curragh
IRE. His father was Charles Cave (1857) and Ada Childs. Charles was a
Sgt Maj in the 62nd Foot and had children in Aldershot, Karachi, Quetta
and Cambridge. His father was Charles (1857), of Huntingdon, and Martha
Whittlesea. Then to William Golding cave (1805), of March CAM and Ann
Maile; Watson Holmes Cave (1782) and Elizabeth Golding; Watson Cave
(1756), of Peterborough, and Hannah Howard; George (1715) of Caldecott
RUT, and Mary; Thomas (1669) of Northampton, and Bridgett Bull; Thomas

and Eleanor Hardwick.

Catherine’s grandparents were William (1868), of Ontario and Mary Jane
Densham. Then to William (1825) of Bristol and Ann Bradcock (nee
Hayward); George (1801), of Thornbury GLS and Ann Hiscox (married in
Bristol); George (1766), of Oldbury GLS and Sarah Cook. This may be
George who was baptised 4Mar1766 in Owlpen, son of George (1730) and his
2nd wife Anne Stephens. Then to Lionel (1710) and Edith Gale. This will
then link in to the Cave’s of Owlpen but does need more research.
*Marcus Poulin (621) *Cave of Nebraska, Ohio and England
Marcus’s great grandmother was Rachel Jane Caves (1901), of NE, who
married Stephen Joseph Osbert. Her parents were Charles William Caves
(1866), of Harrison Co OH, and Esther Mae Harriet Perkins. Then to

James parents are Randal Henry, who went to Canada in 1952, and
Patricia Stewart. His grandparents were Albert G (1882), of Holywood co
Antrim, and Eleanor Stewart. From DNA results there is every indication
that JSC’s ancestors were from the Leicester/Warwicks/Northants area.

his 3rd wife Sarah Jane Greening. Then to Thomas Carter Cave (1817), of
Nottingham, and Marianne Wager Hall; Thomas Cave (1791), of Cold Ashby,
and Elizabeth Taylor. It is possible that Thomas is a brother of Abraham
Carter Cave (1795), of Cold Ashby, whose parents are recorded as Edward
and Mary Carter. There is no positive proof of this at this time.

indicate a different area towards Yorkshire.

marriage certificates his trade was Plasterer. He may have been born in
the March Quarter of 1857 in the Eastry RD. Louisa Elizabeth had sisters
Rose, who married ? Patterson; Nell born in Deal, who married ? Lambert
and went to Canada and Alice. Louisa Elizabeth married, first in the
Canterbury Registration District on the 31stof October 1899, to John
Bierville. He must have died because she married again to ? Blizzard. It
was by this name she died in 1950, aged 70, in Folkestone. One would
think that with all this information it would be easy to identify the
various members of the family. But. There is no mention of John James, a
Plasterer in the 1881 Census, but I may have his birth in 1857. There is
no mention of any of the sisters, or John James (1896) in the GRO Index
either.
*Ian R Holmes (465)* Cave of Huddersfield
Ian’s mother was Gladys Margaret Cave. Her parents were Herbert
(1900) and Bessie Horner, then to, Alfred (1864) of Saddleworth in YKS

*Mike Wood (462) *Cave of Galhampton, SOM, and Gillingham, DOR
Mike has interests in the family group of Gillingham (Dorset) and

the 11thNovember 1842 at St Leonards Shoreditch. She was the daughter of
William (1772) and Sarah Jefferson; then John (1748) an Ironmonger of
Grosvenor Square London and Rebecca Saunders. It is possible that John’s
father was William (c 1723) a Copper Smith of Smithfield and Mary
Brocks. John’s father is simply described as Mr Cave of Plaistow, and
thereby hangs a mystery.
*Steve Smith (458) *Cave of Swinford
Steve’s links with the Cave family are interesting. His brother, Ian
married Deborah Cave. Her father is James Cave. Then to
Albert Thomas (1904) and Eva Bealsey; Walter Eli (1881) of Swinford and
Alice Penn; William (1852) and Anne Barnett. On this line we have more
research to do to prove which William of Swinford this family is linked
to. However, James (1944) had a brother Colin (1934) who married Joan
Cave (1941). Her parents were Percival (1910) of Clifton on Dunsmore,
and his wife Ethel Freeman. Then to Hubert (1884) of Ellesmere Port and

Susannah; Edward (1712) of Pool Hall and his wife Mary; Walter (1686) of
Avenbury and his wife Hannah. This family group is the Cave’s of
Worcester and Leigh Sinton and are recorded back to Thomas Cave who
married Lucy the daughter of John Seton. The date of this marriage is
not recorded but could be about 1200.
*Rick Pringle (454) *Cave of Calverton
Rick is looking at descent from Thomas (1630) of Calverton Bucks and his
wife Elizabeth Lowndes and their son William (bp 1656). This is
difficult to interpret as this family started off with Thomas
Smith/Smythe alias Cave, or Caves and his wife Marie Welford. I have
also links with Lowndes, Smythe and Croke in Winslow Bucks. This has
indication that there are possible links with Prudence Cave who married
John Croke and Dorothy Cave who married William Smythe. These all belong
to the caves of Stanford and are daughters of Richard (d1538) and
Margaret Saxby. The latter has a tomb in Stanford on Avon Church.
Research is required to prove this lineage.
*Ronald J Sandstead (453) *Cave of Swinford
Ronald is descended from Maude Cave (1881) of Harlan Co Nebraska who
married Charles Edward Sandstead in 1899. Her parents were Dennis W Cave
(1849) of Indiana and his wife Sarah Vetura Jones, then William C Cave

Agnes Catesby; Thomas of Stanford (A 1547); John of Sinecross and his
wife the daughter of Edward Saunders; Thomas of Stanford (d1495) and
Thomasine Passmere. This is then the main line of the Cave family back
to South Cave in Yorkshire.
*Brian Cave (452) *Cave of Maidford, NTH
Brian’s father was Richard (1912), then Henry George (1881) and
Elizabeth Schofield of Maidford; Richard (1832) and Fanny Reeve; William

William (1719) and his wife Dorcas Hobley.

Joseph Macer in 1834. Sarah’s ancestors were Thomas (1179) and Elizabeth
Hadder; William (1745) and Susannah Holmes; Scott (born in Wentworth
1702) and Susannah; Thomas (1671) and Susannah; Thomas (c1647) and Ann
Allome and possibly William (c 1610). Therein lies a problem. This is
the Isle of Ely, a Cromwell stronghold. Parish Records are very hard to
find for the early 17thCentury, due to the Civil War.
*Dulcie Perry (447) *Cave of Bulwick
Dulcie is descended from Elsie Cave (1897) of Holbeach. Elsie’s
ancestors were William (1869) and Emma Castle, then, Robert (1826) and
Rebecca Wain; John (1793) and his second wife Martha Whitehead; Robert
(1759) and Sarah Carnel. This Robert was born in Bulwick and had
“settlement” in Leverington CAM, before moving to Holbeach. As such his
parents (and ancestors) would be Robert of Bulwick (1732) and Ann
Oldfield; Robert (c1700) and Elizabeth Freasour; Robert (1676) and
Ursula Bruce; Robert (1640) and Agnes and finally William (bu 1652 in

*Jane M Mcintyre (446) *Cave of Gillingham, DOR
Jane finds her Cave ancestry in Gillingham, Dorset, in Charlotte Cave
(c1829) who married George Blackmore. They married 1850. Charlotte’s
parents appear to be Robert (1788) and Mary, then William and Elizabeth.
This is a new family group that appears to have no connection with the
established Cave family of Gillingham DOR.
*Keith Cave (445) *Cave of South London
Keith’s father is Robert George Cave. Then, to John George
(1903) and Florence Bristow and to Arthur (c1870). Research is in

(1612) of Walcot and Abigail Lord; Thomas (c1590) and Joan Parberry;
Thomas (c1550) of Walcot and Elizabeth Mawbee; Christopher (c1510) of

Newman; George (1733) and Mary Blunt; George (1695) and Ann Kilpinge;

Jonathan was born in and visited me, with his mother and father,

Swinford, where the family originated, to see me, as “I knew all about
the Cave Family”! Jonathon’s father knew that his father, David
(1884) had been born in Swinford and emigrated to New South Wales before

London.
*Gill Evans (409) *Cave of Peterborough
Gill is descended from a Mary Cave who married William Gleadhill of
Oundle in Peterborough in 1746. It would appear that she was the
daughter of Joseph Cave. This is quite complex, as a Settlement document
states that Joseph may have been from Spalding. There are quite a few
Joseph Cave’s drifting between the two towns. I hope that I have found
the right one.

Alfred (1892), Harry Collis (1865) and Joseph (1831). Joseph was Benny
Hill’s Great Grandfather. Jeans daughter, Emily, joined us at Stanford

linked to the Cave’s of Gillingham in Dorset.
*Colin Cave (405) *Cave of Dewsbury, YKS
Colin is descended or the Cave’s of Dewsbury in Yorkshire. His father
was Eric (1912) descended from Herbert Henry (1887) Joe Ellis (1854) and

*David Harris (389) *Cave of Hanslope, Bucks
Descended from Miriam Cave who was baptised 3 Nov 1811, an illegitimate
daughter of Charlotte Cave of Hanslope in Bucks. Thanks to the Vicar of
Hanslope I have this family recorded back to c1699.
*Pat Jones (388) *Cave of Bulwick and Cambridge
Brian is descended from William Cave of Bulwick who was baptised in
1769. I have this family back to c1614, possibly in Kettering. But look
at Ann Beynon (386). Two members from the same family group – the Cave’s
of Bulwick. Brian then goes on to say that William had a daughter, Lucy,
who married, and had a daughter Maria Eat. This is very interesting to
me as it links another family group in Holywell, Huntingdonshire, to
Bulwick. William had married Elizabeth Nunn 27May1803 in Holywell. Is it
the same William baptised in Bulwick?
*E Ann Evans (387) *Cave of Worcester and Bristol
Ann is descended from the Cave’s of Cleve Hill in Bristol, and
Worcester. Her direct ancestor is Charles Cave Cumberbatch who changed
his name to Charles Cave Cave, CCC. He is related to Stephen Cave of St
Nicholas Abbey, Barbados.
*Ann Beynon (386) *Cave of Stilton
Ann is descended from the Cave’s of Stilton. Yes, the place famous for
Stilton Cheese. At least, where it was first sold in the 17thCentury.
Ann’s ancestry is traced back through Folksworth, a village just up the
A1 from Stilton. Then back to Bulwick and, we think, Kettering. We can
certainly get back to the 17thCentury with this family group.
*Thomas H Cave (385) *Cave of Long Newnton GLS
Thomas has links with a farm in Long Newnton in Gloucester. His Gt Gt
Grandfather sold it in 1851. This GGGF was born in 1779 in Owlpen, and
thereby hangs another major family group. All is in the hands of Alan
Moorehouse (268) who is descended from the same group.
*Jo Harding (384) *Cave of Stockton, Liec.
Jo is descended from the same family group as April Zobel (381).
*Carolyn Cave Black (383) *Cave of Virginia
Descended from the Cave’s of Virginia. Carolyn’s ancestry goes back to
Henry Cave born 1769 in Carolina County Virginia, who married Miss
Smith. We then come to the Benjamin Cave who arrived in Va in 1725, and
the question of their origin. Some say England and descended from
William Cave of Pickwell, 1637-1713. It is unfortunate that the only
recorded children are, Elizabeth (1663), William (1664-1665), mary
(1669), Ann (1671), William (1674) and John (1676-1677). My records of
Benjamin over this period are: Benjamin of Cold Overton bapt 21Apr1665,
son of John (c1638) and Ann; Benjamin of Leicester bapt 22May1698, son
of James and Mary. There may be others, I am sure, but they have still
to be found.
*Ronald W Cave (382) *Cave of Birmingham
Descended from Joseph Cave who was born 14 Oct 1888. He was a brassfounder
and joined the Royal Warwickshire regiment from 1914 to 1918.

in Derbyshire. The name of Varney Cave keeps cropping up in various
family groups in that area at the same time.
*Rosemary Nation (380) *Cave of Shoreditch, London
Rosemary has lineage back to William Cave (1772) and Elizabeth Hazzard.
As such she is related to Kenneth and Janet Austin (126).
*Rick Anderson (379) *Cave of Virginia
Descended from Benjamin Cave (1703) of Virginia through two sons,
William and Richard. The lines of descent come together through his
mother, Sona Cave who married Murl Anderson. This is achieved over seven
generations. Rick is the centre of information on the Cave’s of
Virginia. His Web site features in “Computers and Family History”.
*Clinton R Cave (378) *Cave of London
Clinton is descended from Robert (c 1821) of New York. Then to DeWitt
Clinton (c 1897) and Grace Reynolds; De Witt Clinton (c 1869) and Ellen
Spies; Archibald George (1834) of St Mary le Bone, London; John (c 1808)
who married Emma Pentecost 25 Dec 1830, also in St Mary le Bone. It is
possible that John is descended from the Cave family of Roade in
Northamptonshire.
*Stewart Caves (377) C*aves of Aston, Birmingham
Descended from John Caves (1823) of Ealing and his wife Mary Ann Peyton.
His son, Frederick John (1853) of Ealing, but moved to Warwickshire

*Elizabeth Ogden (374) C*ave of Helpston
Elizabeth is descended from the Caves of Helpston. She is a first cousin
of Charles G. Cave (204). Her father was Alfred (Bill) Cave, 1893-1984.
I was amazed at the similarity between him and my father at the same age.
*Jeff V Gray (373) *Cave of Bath and Manchester
Jeff is descended from John Henry Cave who was born at Bathwick
(Somerset) 9 Nov 1849. He married, first, Elizabeth Bannister, 20 May
1869, in Manchester Cathedral. Through this marriage he had Elizabeth
Ann (bo. 18 Aug 1874), Jeff’s Cave ancestor. His wife Elizabeth died in
1877 and he remarried on 27 Oct 1877, Zea Smith in Hulme. The family
then went to Brisbane where John Henry died 21stMarch 1909. Some of the
family returned to England. John Henry’s mother Sylvia was born about
1826 but we are not sure where. John Henry’s birth certificate indicates
that he was born out of wedlock and that his father was Daniel Wiltshire
(or Witshire). Sylvia subsequently married George Hall in Chorlton in
Medlock on 4thJune 1857. Her father was named as George but he was dead
by 1857. I have searched the 1861 Census of Greater Manchester for
George and Sylvia Hall. I was looking for a labourer in a timber yard,
or allied trade, but had no success. A result would have confirmed her
age and place of birth. All of the above is on Table FQ of the Pedigree
Charts.
*Charlene Baroch (372) *Cave of Ohio and England
Charlene is descended from Charles Cave who was born c1804 in England.
He married Mary Ann Casteel in 1833 in Harrison County, Ohio. In 1840 he
is registered as Cave, in 1850 as Caves. In 1860 they were listed as
paupers. They had two daughters. Mary Ann died 19thApril 1892.
*Paulette Cave (371) *Cave of Nuneaton
Paulette is carrying out research on her husband’s (George) family. He
is descended from George N. Cave who was born in 1898 in the Nuneaton
Registration District. This George (1898) has father George (1872) and
mother Sarah Jane (Paul), then William (1833) and Hannah Rowley who
married 29 Jan 1854. We can then go back to William who possibly married
Ann Carter on 27 July 1828. so William would have been born about 1806/7.
This may then tie in with possible parents being William who married Ann
Pierry on 9thDecember 1805. All are of Nuneaton and are detailed on
Table LE of the Pedigree Charts.
*Michael Cave (370) *Cave of Nottingham
mikecave@nbnet.nb.ca <mailto:mikecave@nbnet.nb.ca>. Since posting Mick’s
problem, originally, we have major success in tracing his ancestry.
Mick’s father is Sydney Arthur (bo 1918) in Benwell
Newcastle-Upon-Tyne). His ancestry then goes to Bernard (1889) and
Gladys Henrietta Holland; Arthur (1867) and Charlotte Elizabeth
Boyington; William (1820) and Caroline Etches; Thomas (1771) and
Elizabeth Taylor, then to Francis (bo c 1740) of Gedling (Notts) and his

Her lineage is then through their son William (1738-1813) who married
Ann Broadway in 1759, and their daughter Mary (1777-1814), who married
Robert Moody in 1804. They were a Catholic family group. I have no
origins of Richard (c1705).
*Michael Cave (368) *Cave of Virginia
Descended from Benjamin Cave of Virginia in the beginning of the
18thCentury, and his father John (1678-1726) and Elizabeth Travers
(1689-?). Benjamin married Hannah Bledsoe in 1720 in Orange County. They
had a son John, and so it goes on. Rick Anderson is in the same family
group.
*Mike J Cave (367) *Cave of Isle of Wight
Mike is descended from the Caves of the Isle of Wight. His earliest
known Cave ancestor is Thomas, baptised 11 Sep 1607, died 4 Aug 1667.
These are portrayed on Tables ID to IK on the Pedigree Charts.
*Pat Baker (366) *Cave of Sutton (Cambs)
Dave and Pat trace ancestry back to the Caves of Sutton on the Isle of
Ely in Cambridgeshire. This ancestry goes back into Witchford in the
17th Century but stops there because this area was loyal to Oliver
Cromwell during Parliamentary Rule when registers were not maintained.
*Betty Jackan (365) *
Betty has an ancestor Henry Clay Cave, born on 17th March 1828 in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He married Maria V. Ridgeway on 7th April 1864
in Ross County, Ohio. Henry Clay’s father was Henry, born about 1797 in

about 1610. Table UR contains this family group.
*Elizabeth Midgley (363) *Cave of Nottingham
Elizabeth has interest in the Cave family of Gedling in Nottingham. This
interest has come about because of one of the names she is researching,
Etches, married in to this family. The one link is Wiiliam (1820)

*John Noble (362) *Cave of Helpston
John is descended from Ann Cave (baptised 16th May 1802), Helpston, near
Peterborough. Her father appears to be named William, but I have no
record of him. There is a lot of movement between Peterborough and
Spalding at this time and she may belong to any one of a number of
families.
*Joan I Mitchell (361) *Cave of Preston
Joan is descended from James, who married Matilda Houghton Hinds in 1884

third child (born 1951). She is also looking for her brother John
Charles Cave, who she had not seen for 20 years (in 1997).
*Joan Leslie (360) *Cave of Bristol
Joan is looking for George Cave of Bristol who married Mary Ann Maggs ,

with William T Adams in Blackburn (Lancs). Her mother was a widow living
in Bedminster (Somerset) at this time.

Christine is descended from Ellen Cave (1828) who married Edwin Owen of
Wrexham (Wales). Her father was James (c1800) who married a Mary.
Unfortunately this family was based in the Liverpool area which has many

Wales, and other parts of the country. A difficult problem I have not
been able to resolve for years.

founder members John Hereward Cave and Richard Sowter.
*Len H Harris (356) *Cave of Thorney
Len is descended from my “favourite ancestor” Charles Samuel Cave, who
had a Government assisted passage to New South Wales in 1824! CSC “left”
some descendants in England and I was pleased to welcome Len as a
cousin. (I do not have many!!) Len’s Grandmother was Evelyn Cave (1885)
who married Leonard I Harris in 1907. Evelyn’s parents were William
(1853), of Lambeth, and Frances May Forsley, then to John Edward (1824)

in Dean in 1748.

George Thomas (1926), Kathey’s father. James Phillip had a brother John,
who had a son John Charles Gould Cave. Kathy has found descendants from
him in Peterborough, South Australia. EUREKA – Kathy is linked to the
Cave’s of Bodicote in Oxfordshire. Her James Phillip is Phillip (1827),
the 7th child of George (1787)and Harriet Cave of Bodicote.
*Daphne J Ames (354) *Cave of Northampton

is then the daughter of Frederick William (1852) and Esther Jane,
