The main reason for joining a one-name family history society is usually to make contact with other people descended from the same family unit, people who share your enthusiasm and are happy to pass on their experience.
The Cave Family History Society is open to all members of the Cave Family, plus derivatives and those descended from a male or female Cave.
We currently have about 150 active members and have attracted over 650 members over the 37 years of our existence. The Society holds nearly 1,000 pedigree tables from the 11th Century to the end of the 20th Century which have been built up over 37 years of family history research covering the United Kingdom, Canada, United States of America, Australia and New Zealand.
We would like you to join us and where possible we will link your family with many others currently on our records.
Membership of the society can be obtained through the Membership Secretary by completing the Membership Application form and including a membership fee. The annual subscriptions, due on the 1st June each year, are:
- UK £10.00
- Overseas £12.00 (paper journal) or £10.00 (electronic journal)
Potential members may pay online via Parish Chest, or print, complete and return this form . Overseas membership is paid through Parish Chest. Members who have used the online option will be emailed a short questionnaire.
The membership form has space for you to give details of your earliest known Cave ancestor. You may also provide a brief family tree if you have one. You are given the option to have your name and a brief outline of your lineage published on the Cave FHS website and included in the first available issue of the journal.
As a member you will receive the society journal ‘Caveman’, twice a year and if you wish may attend the Annual Gathering which is an opportunity to meet others with an interest in the Cave Family.
Where possible, we will give you assistance and advice with your own research and if you have a male Cave in your group they may wish to take part in our DNA study to identify possible family group links.
If you have any questions or concerns please make an enquiry of Alan R Moorhouse Membership Secretary via email
NB For Existing UK members please consider paying your annual subscription by Standing Order. As well being the most efficient way to pay your annual subscription it means that the society benefits from the full subscription and does not lose a percentage in commission.
